At the turn of February and March 2016 I flew to Uganda as a volunteer to work with children at Babies Home in Masindi.

Being with them gave me unprecedented joy and energy to act.

Children are amazing: full of energy and ideas, always willing to help, they trust you and greet you with a wide and sincere smile every morning.

They get up early in the morning, go to school, study, do their best and never complain.

They believe that it is worth it and they enjoy every day at school with their friends, proudly wearing their school uniforms.

Volunteering opens your eyes to a previously unknown reality. There is no better investment than giving them what they need.

What you can gain by working with them exceeded the limits of my imagination - a sense of fulfillment and joy of being with them,but also longing - because not a day goes by without me thinking about my little friends from distant Uganda!
