I arrived in Masindi before Easter, which gave me an immediate opportunity to participate in the life of the local community.
At home, preparations for the communal feast took place: the kids put on festive clothes, the aunts prepared a festive meal. On Easter Sunday a visit in the local church and a huge amount of joy with singing and dancing. It was wonderful to see smiling faces all around.
After that, ordinary life began, as everything returned to its order - the routine, which I always associated with something negative, turned out to be something wonderful :)
Dropping the older children off at school and picking them up in the afternoon were fun- I learned something new each time. At home, I spent a lot of time with the youngest residents of the house; ah they can steal your heart in a heartbeat, although their trust must also be earned ;)
It was amazing to see how quickly they learn new things.
All the children, without exception, absorb our presence and behavior.
Being there, I felt at home, I was welcomed very warmly, and I am extremely grateful for that, because it doesn't happen every day.
